What is an IP Address?
An IP (Internet Protocol) address is a unique number that allows devices connected to the internet or a local network to identify each other and exchange data. Just like your home address, it ensures data reaches the correct destination.
IPv4 vs IPv6
The most common format today is IPv4 (e.g., 192.168.1.1). However, as the number of connected devices increases, IPv6 (e.g., 2001:0db8::...), which offers much larger address capacity, is becoming more widespread.
